Her parents homestead was 6 miles down the river from Dunvegan in Alberta Peace River Country. These photos were taken in the late 60’s early 70’s.
There is an old fort built on the banks of the Peace river. There used to be a ferry and now there is a bridge. One time the ferry cable broke and a woman saved everyone who was on the ferry at the time. They could have been pulled under by the current, they were lucky. The river has claimed many lives.
Once a year they have Dunvegan Day where they do old fashioned activities. Families gather for picnics and the young people would get together and play horseshoes.
Recently people park their motorhomes and camp along side the river to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
